Key Highlights of National Medical Commission (NMC) Norms

Eligibility Criteria to Apply for Permanent Registration by Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs)
- Students must have completed a total of 54 months of course and 12 months of internship from the same medical institution.
- The official medium of study should be ‘English’ in the concerned university.
- The curriculum must comply with NMC standards and include subjects such as Medicine, Community General Medicine, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Anaesthesia, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Otolaryngology, Dermatology, Emergency or Casualty Services, Laboratory Services, and associated subspecialties.
- The entire course curriculum, along with internship, must be completed within 10 years from the date of enrolment.
- Clearing the NExT examination is mandatory for registering with NMC for medical practice in India.
Eligibility of the Student Aspirant
- Must have completed 10+2 education with a minimum aggregate score of 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) from a recognized board.
- Must be at least 17 years old by December of the admission year.
- Some universities may require an entrance exam qualification.
- Must have qualified for the NEET UG exam with a valid scorecard.
Accreditations of the University / Institution
- Must comply with MCI / NMC norms.
- Should be approved by the respective Ministry of the Country.
- The degree should be valid for obtaining a practicing license in the country of the institution.
- Should be approved by WHO and registered in the World Directory of Medical Schools.
- Must be recognized by FAIMER, WFME, ECFMG, etc.
